A community effort to learn, share information, and bring together like minded neighbors to better understand and respond to the proposed oil and gas lease presented to the Wildgrass homeowners.
COMMUNITY POLLWe are a group of Wildgrass residents in Broomfield, Colorado interested in better understanding the proposed fracking initiatives. This includes investigating topics such as Governing Bodies, Laws and Regulations, Health and Wellness, Environmental Impacts, Real Estate Issues, Safety, and Geology. We need your help. If you would like to participate in any of this research, please contact us.
We have engaged Attorney Matt Sura to help guide us through this effort. Matt will help guide residents with similar mindsets through the process of communicating with Extraction Oil and Gas and the various governing bodies.
We are also in touch with neighboring communities, the City and County of Broomfield, and the Archdiocese of Denver (they own Holy Family High School).
As the working groups identify new information, it will be added to the "Updates" below.
The potential environmental impacts are complex, ranging from the noise and pollution issues that may occur during drilling to the long term impacts that may be caused by fracking. Topics this group investigates includes impacts on the proposed reservoir, drinking water, noise, earthquakes, pollution, pad and tank placement, or other potential land and water issues.
Health issues around fracking sites are still widely debated, with new studies coming out daily surrounding topics such as asthma, headaches, and fatigue. This group will look into the health impacts of potential water and air pollution to our neighborhood.
For most of us, our house is our largest investment. The most obvious question that we need to address is if fracking will impact our house values. But beyond that, there are questions around the impacts to our existing mortgages, refinancing, and selling if we lease our mineral rights or become force pooled partners in the well.
